Pavement improvements are scheduled to commence during the week of September 6, 2021 on
Oceanview Avenue & Popponesset Road, Cotuit

The Town’s contractor for this project is Lawrence Lynch Corp. The various construction activities may include clearing of overgrowth along the road sides, street sweeping, drainage improvements, replacement of curb sections, installation of new pavement surfaces, and restoration of disturbed areas.

Normal work hours will be between 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Construction is scheduled to continue through November 23, 2021.

Through traffic will be maintained on these roads throughout construction. Any lane closures will be supported with police details to direct traffic. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes to avoid the construction work

Attention Drivers

NATIONAL GRID GAS PIPE INSTALLATION, ANCHOR LANE, COTUIT

May 4, 2021  National Grid, through their contractor Fraser Engineering, is planning on trenching across Route 28 on Tuesday, May 11th as part of their Anchor Lane (Cotuit) Regulator Station replacement project.  This work will require single lane closures on Route 28, which will last one evening.  Work is anticipated to be performed from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. 

Pre-work (i.e. saw-cutting) will take place on Wednesday, May 5 and Thursday, May 6, which will require portions of Anchor Lane travel lanes to be restricted, and work on Falmouth Road (Route 28) will include temporary lane closures, which will be controlled by police details. As always, please slow down and use extreme caution when traveling through the road construction areas, and follow posted safety and detour signs.

Pavement Improvements on Various Public Roadways in the Village of Cotuit

Pavement improvements are scheduled to commence during the week of April 15, 2019 on various public roads in the village of Cotuit.

The list of roads includes:

Abbey Gate, Buckingham Way, Oxford Drive & Queen Anne Lane

The Town’s contractor for the project is MCE Dirtworks.  Construction activities include clearing of overgrowth along the road sides, street sweeping, pavement milling, placement of new pavement surfaces and restoration of disturbed areas.

Normal work hours will be between 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Construction is scheduled to continue through until June 14, 2019.

Through traffic will be maintained on these roads throughout construction.  Any lane closures will be supported with police details to direct traffic.  Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes to avoid the construction work

NOTICE OF ROAD CONSTRUCTION/ROAD CLOSURE – QUINAQUISSET AVENUE

The Town of Barnstable would like to inform its residents that the Town of Mashpee will be replacing a culvert on Quinaquisset Avenue at Quaker Run. Work is scheduled to begin Monday, October 9, 2017 and continue through Friday, October 27, 2017.

Between Monday, October 9 and Friday, October 13, Quinaquisset Avenue will be closed to traffic in both directions between the West Gate to Willowbend and WIllowbend Drive. Eastbound traffic will be detoured onto Orchard Road to Route 28. Westbound traffic on Quinaquisset Avenue will be detoured onto Willowbend Drive to Sampson’s Mill Road to Cape Drive to Route 28. Motorists travelling from Cotuit on School Street are suggested to detour at High Street to Route 28.

Quinaquisset Avenue is expected to reopen to thru traffic at the end of the day on October 13th. Construction will continue until October 27th and motorists should expect traffic delays during the work hours of 6:30 AM and 5:00 PM.

ROAD PAVING

PUTNAM AVENUE, COTUIT

The Department of Public Works will resume paving of Putnam Ave in Cotuit on Friday, October 9, 2015. Paving is expected to be completed by the end of the day, weather permitting. Vehicle access during paving operations will be restricted to one lane.  Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes to avoid delays. Operations will start promptly at 7 AM and run until 5 PM, after which time traffic will be opened back onto both lanes of the roadway. As always, please slow down and use extreme caution when traveling through the road construction areas and follow posted safety signs.
