WEST NILE VIRUS Detected in the Town of Barnstable!

A total of six positive samples were detected from batches trapped in Cotuit, Marstons Mills and Hyannis. Three samples of Culex pipiens/restuans mosquitoes trapped in Cotuit on 8/7/18 tested positive for West Nile Virus.

Annual “Kids Day” Wednesday 10-2

On Wednesday August 8th the Barnstable Police Department along with the five Town of Barnstable Fire Departments will be hosting the Annual “Kids Day” at the Barnstable High School from 10:00 am to 2:00 p.m. This event will allow children of all ages to see demonstrations, equipment, and vehicles from several different police and fire departments. K-9 demonstrations, helicopters, and SWAT demonstrations are just a few of the things kids will be able to view. Enjoy a hot dog and soda, followed by an ice cream cone, all donated by local businesses. Everything is FREE at “Kids Day”. A parade starts the day’s events at 10:00 am.

All names picked from the drawing will have until Wednesday, August 15, 2018 by 4:15 PM to submit the required $25 waiting list fee then these names will be added to the end of the currently active waiting list in chronological order as drawn. If not received at the Harbormaster’s Office by August 15, 2018 at 4:15 PM, the name will not be placed on the waiting list. All mooring regulations must be followed.

Fireworks

July 4 Activities (Except for Fireworks, No Rain Date)

11 AM Cotuit Parade Kicks off at Post Office and ends at the Waldorf School Field

4 PM Hyannis Parade Kicks off at Main/Ocean Streets ends at Main/Sea Streets

5-7 PM Town Band Performance on Village Green, Hyannis

Dusk Fireworks over Lewis Bay, Hyannis (September 1, Rain date)

Viewing:  The main viewing locations for this year’s fireworks will be Aselton Park, Bismore Park, and Veteran’s Park Beach.  Kalmus Beach will be available for handicapped parking only.

Fireworks Parking (Barnstable):  A Parking Ban will be in effect South of South Street (Ocean Street, Old Colony Boulevard, Gosnold Street and all streets running off of Gosnold Street) from 5:00 PM to midnight to allow for pedestrian access.  Parking will be available in the North Street parking lots and Town Hall parking lot.  Tow Zones Strictly Enforced.  Carpooling suggested.
