Burglar alarm registrations within the Town of Barnstable expire on December 31, 2018.If you are an Alarm User, commercial or residential, monitored or non-monitored, you need to renew your Alarm Registration and get your 2019/2020 decal.  Please complete a 2019/2020 Alarm Registration renewal form and submit with a $25.00 registration fee.  Renewal forms are available at the Barnstable Police Department or online HERE Please renew by the expiration date (12/31/2018) to avoid costly late fees and unregistered alarm fines.  If you have any questions regarding the renewal please call 508-778-3824.

The Town of Barnstable is pleased to announce the official ribbon cutting for the “Barnstable Dog Park.” Thanks to funding from the Stanton Foundation for design and construction of the Dog Park, as well as contributions and provisions for maintenance from the Friends of Barnstable Dog Parks, the Town of Barnstable’s Dog Park, a first class, no fee dog park is now open to the public.

2018 State & Local Election Information

The Town Clerk’s Office is sending out absentee ballots daily, so please stop by and you can vote right now in the office, your ballot will be taken to the polling locations to be counted on Election Day, November 6th. If you are requesting an Early Voting Ballot by mail, the Town Clerk’s Office will start mailing those ballots out on October 22nd (the first day of early voting). Then you will have to return them no later than November 2nd to be counted.

Early Voting at the Town Clerk’s Office will take place during regular business hours (8:30 AM to 4:30 PM) Monday through Friday, starting on October 22nd. Expanded Early Voting hours will take place on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 and October 30, 2018 until 8:00 PM and Saturday, October 27th from 8:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Early Voting ends on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 4:30 PM.

The Town Clerk’s Office will be the centralized tabulation facility for early voting ballots. Early voting information will be published in the Cape Cod Times. Questions? Please call the Town Clerk’s Office at 508-862-4044.

Fall Festival

Historical Society of Santuit & Cotuit will hold its Fall Festival on Columbus Day Weekend,
​Saturday, Oct 6, 11AM to 3PM
All proceeds from the afternoon will go toward HSSC Programming.
​Fun for the whole Family!

Highlights of the Day:

TENT SALE
During the Festival, there will be a Community Tent Sale. The Museum Shop will be selling some inventory at signifcant discounted prices, along with items donated by members and the community.   If you are cleaning out your closets,  (gently used items in all sizes, please provide hangers) or household items and small furniture (in excellent condition) and find you have items you just dont use or need anymore, consider donating them to the HSSC Tent Sale and make them “history” DROP OFF:  Drop off donations at the HSSC office, 1148 Main St., Cotuit, October 1 – 5   from 12 noon to 4 PM

Any items not sold the day of the tent sale will be donated to the Epilepsy Foundation.  If you would like your items back, you must pick them up after 3pm Saturday October 6.

PIES,  PIES,  PIES!
We will be holding our “Pies For Programs” fundraiser again. Delicious homemade pies baked by our local pie mavens will be for sale .
Buy them by the slice to eat right away and enjoy, or whole to take home!  Nothing beats a good piece of pie!​ ​By the slice: $5 Whole pies $20.

DONUTS, CIDER AND COFFEE
Warm, scrumptious cider donuts from Cape Cod Donuts, fresh apple cider and coffee will be available. Donations appreciated!

OPEN HEARTH COOKING DEMO
Come see Joan and her crew as they prepare a meal over the hearth in the Homestead. You can participate in the workshop or just observe how cooking was done in yesteryear.

RECYCLING CHANGE at Barnstable
TRANSFER STATION & RECYCLING CENTER

Over the past year, there have been significant changes to the global recycling market. The major outlets for U.S. recyclables have overhauled their regulations and increased enforcement, with some outlets shutting down. This has created stricter standards in the acceptance of recyclables. Due to these changes, the Solid Waste Division will be adjusting its operation and changing the process on how recyclables are accepted at the Transfer Station & Recycling Center. Beginning October 1, 2018, all recyclables disposed of at the Recycling Center will need to be separated into designated containers for cardboard, plastics, mixed paper, metal cans and glass. Sticker holders will be responsible for separating their recyclable items and disposing of them into the respective containers. To aid in the transition from single stream to separation, there will continue to be two (2) containers for single stream recycling. These two containers will only be available for 60 days to allow sticker holders to adjust to the recycling changes.
