COVID-19 Vaccines are FREE

How to preregister

To preregister beginning March 12 and be notified about available vaccine appointments at mass vaccination locations, you will need the following: 

  • Name
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Contact information
  • Preferred method of communication; email, text, or phone call
  • Option to ask for help scheduling over the phone
  • Information about eligibility (living situations, medical conditions, occupations)

To help older people and others who are unable to use the form, family members, caregivers, or other companions can fill out the form on behalf of someone else. People who do not have internet access or someone to fill the form out for them can call 2-1-1 to preregister.

If you are not yet eligible and you sign up, your signup will be valid but you will not be offered appointments until you are eligible. There is no advantage to preregistering before you are eligible.

Massachusetts receives a limited supply of COVID-19 vaccine doses from the federal government each week. Due to high demand and very limited supply, there are a limited number of appointments available for eligible people. Please keep in mind that it could take several weeks or longer to be contacted with an opportunity to schedule your appointment.

What happens next

After you fill out the preregistration form, your information will be saved and you’ll receive a confirmation through your preferred method of communication (email, text message, or phone call).

Each week, you will receive a weekly status update to:

  • Confirm you are still on the list
  • Give you a chance to opt out if you have scheduled an appointment elsewhere

The opportunity to schedule appointments will be offered to eligible people on a rolling basis. If you are eligible, you will receive appointment notifications based on when you sign up and the availability in your area.  

Once notified, you have 24 hours to schedule an appointment.

When an appointment is available for you, you will be contacted through your preferred method of communication. 

  • If it’s text message or email, you’ll be sent a link to choose an appointment at one of the 7 mass vaccination locations.
  • If it’s a phone call, you’ll receive a call with information about how to schedule your appointment at one of the 7 mass vaccination locations.
  • You’ll have 24 hours to schedule an appointment. If the appointment is not accepted within 24 hours, you will go back onto the list to wait for another appointment.

*****Please note COVID-19 Vaccines are FREE. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts will never ask you for your bank account number, password, or other financial information.

BARNSTABLE OFFERING ZONING NOTICES BY E-MAIL

The Town of Barnstable is seeking to enhance communication with the public on matters related to zoning.  The Town is offering the opportunity to opt-in to e-mails about proposed zoning changes.

Massachusetts law requires municipalities to notify the public about proposed zoning amendments through a published notice in a local newspaper.  The Town recognizes the benefits of having diverse communication strategies, so staff established this effort.  After signing up to receive notices, the Town will e-mail messages about proposed zoning amendments prior to the required public hearings at the Planning Board and Town Council. The Town will also send messages about public meetings, workshops or other efforts that relate to amending zoning.  Members of the public can sign up for e-mail Zoning Updates HERE

The process, as outlined by Town Architect, Mark Marinaccio, would take approximately two years from request to actual demolition giving the community sufficient time to provide input on the fate of the 13 acre parcel.

The Town of Barnstable Planning Board, together with the Town’s Planning & Development Department, invites the public to a virtual meeting to discuss Accessory Dwelling Units. The Town is considering an amendment to the zoning ordinance to allow Accessory Dwelling Units as accessory use to a single-family residential dwelling.  The Town wants to share information with the community about Accessory Dwelling Units and get resident feedback on key issue areas.

The Town Council Zoning & Regulatory Committee introduced the topic of Accessory Dwelling Units to discuss the potential for this housing option to increase the availability of year-round rental units; adapt single-family residential properties so they are supportive of residents at a variety of stages in their life cycle; and to encourage economic and efficient use of the Town’s housing stock while maintaining the appearance and character of neighborhoods and remaining within our wastewater capacity limitations.  A draft of the ordinance discussed by the Zoning & Regulatory Committee is available on their website HERE

Reminder To avoid a Late Fee, Renew your Burglar Alarm Registration with the Barnstable Police Department prior to January 31, 2021

All burglar alarm registrations within the Town of Barnstable will expire on December 31, 2020. If you own a house or business in the Town of Barnstable that is equipped with an active burglar alarm, monitored or non-monitored, you need to renew your Alarm Registration and get your 2021/2022 decal. Please complete a 2021/2022 Alarm Registration form and submit with a $25.00 registration fee.
