Road Construction

Town of Barnstable DPW- Drainage Improvements

The Department of Public Works is performing drainage improvements on Mariner Circle, Cotuit. Work will begin Monday, April 9, 2018 and will continue as weather allows. Motorists and pedestrians may be redirected around the construction operations when necessary. Both motorists and pedestrians are advised to seek alternate routes to avoid the construction work. Construction operations will start promptly at 7:00 AM and run until 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.

Spring Day at Waldorf School

Spring is coming and the Waldorf School of Cape Cod located at 140 Old Oyster Rd, Cotuit invites you to celebrate with them at their annual early childhood Spring Day. The event is geared to families with young children.

Saturday April 7, 2018
10:00am – 11:30AM: Crafts
11:45AM: Puppet Show
12:00PM: Picnic Lunch (bring your own or buy lunch) Lunch available for purchase from their own Chef Peet featuring many edibles from the school’s 4-season hoop house on the grounds.

ACTIVITIES:
pinwheel making – seed planting – puppet show – tissue paper butterflies – egg & chick paper craft

Activities: $5 per family (excluding lunch)

Vietnam Veterans Day

 


John Spruyt, director of the Massachusetts National Cemetery, will be keynote speaker at a 9 a.m. ceremony at the cemetery in Bourne. The event will include a pinning ceremony for all Vietnam Veterans in attendance and will feature music performed by Bourne students.

Vietnam Veterans  will be honored at a ceremony at 1:30 p.m. at the Barnstable Senior Center, 825 Falmouth Rd., Hyannis. Vietnam Veterans from across the Cape and Islands are welcome, along with their family and friends and Veterans from all eras.

UPDATE:  – Bids for offered properties are due today, 3/28/18, no later than 2 pm.  Deliver bids in sealed, labeled envelope to the address below.  The opening of the bids will take place shortly after 2 pm in the Town Hall Hearing Room, 367 Main Street, Hyannis, 2nd Floor.  The sealed bids will be opened and read out loud.  The raw bid results will be posted on the Town website and emailed to all registered potentials bidders reviewing the bid documents.  All submittals are subject to review and acceptance by the Town Manager.  You do NOT have to be present at the opening if you can’t make it.   Please feel free to contact the undersigned if you have any questions.

Responses are due March 28, 2018, by 2:00 p.m. in the Office of the Director of Property and Risk Management, 230 South Street, Hyannis, MA 02601. Responses will be opened and read in the Town Hall Hearing room just after 2:00 p.m. on the date due. The opening of the responses are public. An award is intended to be made by within 90 days. The Request for Proposals and Required forms are available on the Town of Barnstable website, Bid and RFP System at http://www.townofbarnstable.us. Youth Job Fair

The Barnstable Youth Commission will hold its second annual Youth Job Fair Tuesday, March 27, from 2:30 to 5 p.m. at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center, 141 Bassett Lane.

The job fair is intended for ages 14-18. Dozens of businesses will be in the HYCC gym. In addition to both volunteer and paid positions, there will be how-to workshops. All are welcome.

First Tee Golf Program

 


The First Tee program of Massachusetts enters its 15th year by offering spring afterschool/weekend programs at Hyannis Golf Course.

Starting in mid-April, classes meet once weekly for two hours (nine total classes). The cost is $55/participant. Financial assistance is available for families in need.

The program emphasizes nine core values: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, and judgment.

Through golf and core values, kids and teens learn life skills like making proper introductions; managing emotions; resolving conflicts; setting up step-by-step goals; planning for the future; and appreciating diversity.
